Thanks to all of your support, we were able to donate $1,335 to help save animals lives!!
"Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control is committed to saving animals' lives, ensuring equal access to companion animals for those of all socio-economic levels, and raising the level of care for animals living in the city of Detroit. We work hand in hand with Detroit Animal Care and Control to help the homeless animals at DACC and proactively keep animals out of our shelter in the first place. FoDACC exists to support Detroit Animal Care and Control in the areas of volunteer management, donation solicitation and acceptance, and live release, which includes shelter intervention. Our goal is for our volunteers to know canine and feline body language, handle animals humanely, use scientifically based training methods, and advocate for Detroit, its residents, and animals. Our volunteers provide daily enrichment to the shelter animals and help animals get adopted at both onsite and offsite events. We work to supplement the budget allocated to DACC by the city, which falls short of operating a fully functional shelter and its lifesaving programs. We apply for grants, hold fundraisers, form relationships with donors/foundations, and accept all material and in-kind donations from our supporters to be used at DACC. Our goal is to work with DACC to expand their adoption, foster, and transfer/transport programs. We want to get animals from Detroit adopted back into Detroit, as well as surrounding communities. We want to expand shelter intervention services to keep pets in their homes and reunite them quickly if they are lost. We happily work with DACC to expand their adoption, foster, and transfer/transport programs. We want to get animals from Detroit adopted back into Detroit, as well as surrounding communities. We want to expand shelter intervention services to keep pets in their homes and reunite them quickly if they are lost. Our volunteer program provides enrichment and time out of kennel. Our foster program provides time out of the shelter and day trips around town. Our adoption program provides a loving home. And our free microchip clinics prevent animals from ending up at the shelter in the first place. Friends of DACC is a completely force-free organization. We believe in science-based training methods that are not harmful to a dog’s mental or physical state. We believe all dogs are individuals and we are against breed-specific legislation. Our mission is simple, Help the animals of Detroit"
